WP6 - Capacity building, stakeholder engagement & policy recommendations

As our knowledge on deep-sea ecosystems is rapidly evolving, and as mining raises questions about its societal acceptability, a strong and transparent communication and dissemination strategy is of utmost importance.
The main objectives of WP6 are to increase ocean literacy through capacity building, interactions with stakeholders, policy recommendations on conservation and restoration actions and outreach activities based on DEEP REST results from WP2 to WP5. Dissemination/communication of results will occur through a combination of stakeholders’ workshops, public talks, scientific presentations, teaching courses and role playing game sessions at key international conferences and negotiation sessions. Moreover, results will be published in reports for policy audiences, policy briefs and peer-reviewed journals.
